Grandma’s chocolate truffles – How to make deliciously delicate, heavenly chocolate truffles with ease. This recipe comes from Felix’s great-grandmother, who lived in Toggenburg, Switzerland, in the 1920s. These truffles are pure bliss in every bite!
This recipe for chocolate truffles is particularly worthwhile because it offers intense, creamy chocolate enjoyment with just a few ingredients. It is easy to prepare and can be customised (e.g. with a dash of Armagnac). The handmade truffles are perfect for special occasions and as gifts. A real treat for chocolate lovers!
Ingredients
- 500 g chocolate (e.g. Lindt with 70% cocoa content)
- 200 g butter, at room temperature
- 6 egg yolks
- chocolate sprinkles
- Alternatively, rum, Armagnac or other spirits may be used.
Preparation
- Prepare the chocolate: finely grate or chop the chocolate.
- Mixing: Mix the softened butter, egg yolks and grated chocolate well until smooth.
- Cooling: If the mixture is too soft, place it in the refrigerator for approx. 15 minutes to make it easier to work with.
- Shape into balls: Shape the mixture into small balls (approx. 2 cm in diameter).
- Rolling: Roll the balls in the chocolate sprinkles until they are completely covered.
- Enjoy: Done! The truffles taste delicious and can be served immediately.
▷ Optionally, a dash of Armagnac or rum can be added to the mixture beforehand to refine the flavour.
